Prairie
on the Lake

Nestled on a hill, this Prairie style design home was masterfully planned for its challenging site, overlooking south end of the Bush Lake in West Bloomington.

The house design concept was based on the principles of Organic Architecture. The idea that the buildings should fit their site and surroundings, not the other way around.

The house wrapped around the edge of the hill to take most advantage of the views of the Lake. This also addressed dealing with the challenging terrains and working around the idea to preserve a hundred year old Oak tree.

The open floor plan interior and high ceilings of light and the views of the Lake from every room, was the centerpiece concept for it's interior architecture and design.

The main entry foyer displays a dramatic high ceiling, light filled with the clerestory windows above. The foyer also draws you in with the incredible views of the Lake and the open winding stair down to the patio level. 

This house was designed for complete main floor living, all on one floor, lifestyle, with additional living space below. 

The exterior design, inspired by the Prairie Style Architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright, emphasis the strong horizontal lines, deep roof overhangs and low pitched roof. 

Even the garage doors received extra attention, by creative design patterns based on Frank Lloyd Wright's window designs. 

The original owners loved the house designed for them so much that they invested quite a bit on Wright inspired custom designed rugs and fixtures.
